Monosnap has some settings and features that can be useful for individual users. However, these settings may not be safe for the company in general. In this guide, we prepared a list of such types of settings.
Settings list
Short links
Short links option shrinks the URL of the uploaded file to take.ms
The short links look better than the default ugly URLs in the tasks descriptions or posts on socials. However, this beauty contains the risks:
1️⃣ Your company can't control over take.ms
domain
2️⃣ Short links are predictable because they all follow the same structure. Anyone could extremely quickly see thousands of possible variants and automatically checked links directed to a file in a cloud storage
In this case, we recommend disabling the short link option for all employees.
To disable this option, navigate to Monosnap's Settings > General: ✔️ Short links
Filename template
Including a window title %W
to Filename template is a security risk. Window title may contain sensitive data. To disable this option, go to Monosnap's Settings > Advanced: Filename template
We recommend using random digit generators. For example, %y-%m-%R%R
Unnecessary cloud services
Monosnap supports a lot of integrations with cloud services, but some of them may be a way to data leak. On request, we could restrict all integrations and cloud services that aren't used in your company's workflow.
Solution
We recommended including this article in the company's guides for employees. To simplify the control for risky settings or unnecessary cloud services, we provide an opportunity to block or restrict them for the whole company as a part of Commercial Plan and Enterprise Plan.
